The Reunion 8 Insiders Blog
Katrina Law

I'm sitting quietly with Keith on the couch in our home in LA. He is watching a rerun of Fringe while am I cuddled up next to him in the process of falling asleep. When suddenly I sit up and shatter the peaceful moment by shouting "FLOWER!"

It's been a few weeks since Reunion 8 and Daventry, but the memories still linger like fresh baked pie and some of them like FLOWER and SAUCER detachments just plain haunt me…all in the best possible haunting sense of course.

Reunion 8 was my introduction into the world of conventions and as all of you so happily chanted to me during the opening ceremony, I was a "virgin" but you all were my first! And I waited until the tender age of *cough* 21 *cough* to lose it. Something my dad will be proud of.

katbettingReunion 8 felt like a big, happy weekend camp retreat to me. I couldn't have been more impressed with the quality of people that I ended up meeting and hopefully can now call my friends. Just to name a few... Squire and Kat I will see you on Facebook. Angie, Derek, and Karen I still think you should have won and Angie keep rocking out those purple heels! Melissa, I could remember your electronic cat, or beaver, or mink, or tail...but I choose to remember how interesting our conversation was the first night. Keith, if all bartenders could be as sexy as you...and sorry about your hand. Pete, pick a better team. Martin, the only reason your team is okay is because they won the charity bet and beat the stupid Cowboys. Mark 'with a K,' you are still gorgeous! Marc 'with a C,' Harrison

Ford's got nothing on you! Tall Mark, you were just a sweetie. Lynda and Terry, I promise to visit Bath the next time I'm on the Isle. "Ash the Virgin" and your parents, what good sports you are! Sharon and Paul, the two of you are just lovely together. Stella, your commitment to the Fancy Dress Competition is an inspiration.

There are moments when I see wrapping paper and immediately wish for candy. It's an involuntary reaction and I'm not sure what to make of it, though I am really proud of myself for my Saucer Detachment redemption at the closing ceremonies. I also find myself listening to the sounds of traffic and swearing that I can hear the theme song to "24." Hmmm...

I will never forget James in a box. James, Bob, Pimp, even though everyone strongly advised against Keith and I getting you the Mace and Chain, I thought it was a brilliant idea. I hope you are putting it to good use and defending yourself against Aby and B. And don't worry about Keith. If you won't tell, I won't tell ;-)

Aby, from the moment that you and Ali picked us up at the airport, I knew we would get along splendidly! Sorry I kept falling asleep in your back seat but tell your mom the back seat of her car is fantastic! And oh, yeah...your Packers still suck even though they won. Go EAGLES! P.S. I will watch a football game that consists only of lines on a green grid with you anytime!

Anne, I thought you were absolutely wonderful to Keith and I. I feel as though one of these days I need to sit through one of your long unabridged speeches to figure out what everyone was talking about. Warwick Castle was one of the many highlights of the trip and I am glad that you thought to take us there.

B, you were my personal life savior. Without you I think I would have withered into a tiny pool of insecurity at many random points during the conference. You are so quick on your feet and you really were the life of the party.

Brian, thank you so much for taking Keith and I out to see Shakespeare's home. It was a great day out and I will walk away with the knowledge that that house is for sure the real deal and all those naysayers are just haters. And sorry I fell asleep in the back seat of your car too. I do that a lot.

Andy, I will let you borrow Keith for one night and one night only. Please return him in good condition. And rinse him off. You know what I'm talking about.

The entire Crew of Reunion 8 was just a joy to be around. You kept everything running smoothly and on time and without you the entire weekend would not have been possible.

And how could I possibly leave out my partners in crime? Eddie McClintock, Connor Trinneer, and Phil Ford. You three did most of the heavy lifting and I learned a lot by just watching you all in action. It is obvious that you three have done this sort of thing many times and I was constantly taking notes on how to be entertaining and interesting while remaining graceful and humble. You were all so sweet and charming. However, Eddie? You're amazing as an actor on Warehouse 13...but your stand up jokes are terrible…don't quit your day job.

Thank you to The Staverton Park Hotel for hosting us. Thank you especially for all the free coffee and the ginger biscuits in the morning. I know it must have been a shock to see Indiana Jones, Gladiators, Klingons, The Closet Monster, Star Trek crew members, and Andy Blyth walking around, but you handled us beautifully! You even had some random Golfers that joined in on Pass the Parcel and performed the Wizard of Oz like pros! But I am sure they only stuck around because of Angie's Baywatch reenactment.

I know that the future of Reunion is up in the air at the moment, but it is such a wonderful event that it is hard to think that it will come to a permanent end. I immediately told several of my cast mates on Spartacus that they simply HAD to come play with you all next year and they were very eager to do so!

When it was all said and done, I had a wonderful time and am blessed with many random and eclectic memories to tuck away in my memory and walk away with (like the beaver conga line and crapheap fiasco). No matter what happens, we will always have Daventry...and Pluto will always be a planet in my eyes.
